Ribbed Cashmere Cowl Knitting Pattern

Knitting pattern for a soft and relaxed cashmere cowl – perfect if you love keeping your neck warm without feeling wrapped up in a bulky scarf.

I designed the Ribbed Cashmere Cowl as the perfect companion to my popular Baggy Cashmere Beanie.

Just like the beanie, it has a relaxed fit and the beautiful, effortless drape that only cashmere can give. It’s just as lovely worn indoors over a sweater as it is tucked inside your jacket when you head outside. Because it’s so lightweight, you can easily zip your jacket all the way up without the cowl feeling bulky.

The cowl is knitted from the top down in half brioche stitch – a simple technique that creates a beautiful ribbed texture while remaining much lighter and thinner than traditional brioche knitting. It’s enjoyable to knit and surprisingly easy to master.

To create its soft, relaxed shape, the cowl is worked using three different needle sizes. The lower section is finished with a small split hem, allowing it to drape naturally over your shoulders instead of standing away from the body.

Using just three balls of Cashmere Classic, you’ll create an incredibly soft, lightweight and versatile cowl that will quickly become a favourite throughout the colder months.
