Westcoast Hat Knitting Pattern (ENG)

Westcoast Hat was born on a windy day here on the west coast. Knitting instructions for a unisex hat knitted in soft mulesing-free merino wool from Langyarns.
I love light, soft cashmere hats, but quickly discovered that they didn’t always stay put when the wind picked up out by the sea. I wanted to create a hat that sat nice and steady on the head, kept it warm while still maintaining the light and luxurious feel.
The result was the Westcoast Hat – a classic unisex hat with a wide double folded brim that sits comfortably even on really windy days. If you knit it together with a thin strand of kidmohair, you also get a fantastic combination of lightness, warmth and a soft, exclusive surface.
The kidmohair acts as an insulating layer and makes the hat extra comfortable on cold autumn and winter days. The hat is knitted in the soft, mulesing-free Merino 120 from Lang Yarns and can be knitted both with or without a guide thread of Lang Yarns Lace (kidmohair and silk).
The description also includes the option to knit the hat a little longer if you prefer a looser fit.

If you want to make an extra wide fold or knit a longer model, you will need an extra ball of Merino 120 for the women’s and men’s sizes. Westcoast Hat is just as suitable for a walk along the sea as it is for the ski slope, in the mountains or on a cold winter day in the city.
