The Boxy 80 Sweater is all about comfort, simplicity and timeless style.

Its relaxed, oversized fit makes it just as easy to wear with jeans as it is layered over a dress or a simple camisole on cooler summer days. The straight silhouette and slightly cropped body give it a subtle nod to classic 1980s fashion, while still feeling fresh and contemporary.

The original sweater is knitted in Lang Yarns Amira, an exceptionally soft cotton yarn with a beautiful natural sheen. Many knitters expect cotton to feel firm or crisp, but Amira is quite different. It has an incredibly soft, almost flannel-like feel against the skin, making it a pleasure to wear.

The sweater is knitted in separate pieces – front, back and sleeves – and then seamed together. This straightforward construction makes it a relaxing project, even if you’re relatively new to knitting garments. Worked on 7 mm needles, it also grows surprisingly quickly.

If you prefer a longer sweater, simply add a few extra centimetres to the body and allow for one or two additional balls of yarn.
