A knitting pattern for classic hand-knitted socks featuring an elegant short-row heel and sizes from baby to adult.

This is my go-to sock pattern – a timeless design you’ll find yourself returning to again and again.

The socks are worked from the cuff down and feature a beautifully shaped short-row heel. Once you’ve mastered the technique, it’s both quick to knit and creates an excellent fit. Many knitters who try it never want to go back to the traditional heel flap and gusset.

Don’t worry if your first heel isn’t perfect. It’s easy to unravel and knit again, and once you’ve learned the technique, you’ll be able to use it for all your future sock projects.

The pattern includes sizes from baby right through to adult EU size 46–47, making it a versatile wardrobe staple for the whole family.

You can use almost any standard 4-ply sock yarn that matches the recommended tension, giving you endless possibilities for solid colours, self-striping yarns and beautiful hand-dyed sock yarns.
