Mia’s Cuddle Coat is a long cardigan with a relaxed, straight silhouette and a flattering V-neckline. It’s the kind of cardigan you’ll love wrapping around yourself on a chilly morning, yet it looks just as beautiful worn over jeans, a dress or a simple camisole.

The original design is knitted in Lang Yarns Cloud, an exceptionally soft and airy blow yarn made from extra fine merino wool. Its beautifully blended colours create a lively, painterly effect throughout the cardigan. I knitted my sample using one ball of each colour, creating a joyful gradient that makes this cardigan impossible not to smile at.

You can, of course, make it entirely your own. Knit it in a colourful fade, choose subtle natural shades or work it in a single colour for a timeless, elegant look. The pattern also works beautifully in Lang Yarns Baby Lama or any yarn that matches the recommended tension.

The cardigan is designed without traditional button bands, giving it a relaxed and effortless style. I chose to add a few discreet press studs just below the V-neck, but this is completely optional. If you prefer a classic button-front cardigan, you can easily add knitted button bands and buttonholes.

Worked from the bottom up, the construction is simple and enjoyable, making this a wonderfully relaxing project even if you haven’t knitted many cardigans before.
